Maine Attraction- Coined the “Triple Threat of Burlesque” Maine Anders captivates audiences every time she hits the stage. This international sensation has performed everywhere from MGM Grand’s Studio 54 (Las Vegas), Le Bus Palladium (Paris), Buddha Bar (Beirut), Dragon-I (Hong Kong) to The National Theatre Iceland (Reykjavik). Her uninhibited rhythmic style and sense of humor blends an ensemble of samba, belly dance, African, improvisation and pole dancing into a movement she’s defines as “Burlesque Fusion.”

Maine, known on stage as “The Maine Attraction,” landed her first professional dance appearance in MTV's Fight for Your Rights Campaign marking the beginning of what has blossomed into a beautiful career. From that starting point she then toured with DJ Tiesto, performed on the Latin Grammys with Wisin y Yandel and has joined several legends including James Brown, Lionel Richie, and Pharrell Williams, burlesque divas Dita Von Tease and Amanda Lepore, making The Maine Attraction a legend in her own right.

Her tenacious spirit has helped her become one of New Yok's most celebrated burlesque performers. A muse for numerous visual artists, such as conceptual photographer LaToya Ruby Frazier and acclaimed multimedia extraordinaire, Matthew Barney. She has performed exclusive fashion events hosted by icons Patricia Field and Marc Jacobs.

Her ability to transform herself into a myriad of characters gives her the opportunity to play roles that are left of center, and fuse the elements of sex, comedy and drama effortlessly, as seen in her self-conceptualized one woman show, The Last Day of Black History Month: A Conversation With A Naked Southern Black Lesbian.

Known for playing herself in Dee Rees’ acclaimed Pariah, Maine has also portrayed many leading roles in indie films including: Miente, Nefertitty, Nefertitty in Space, Nefertitty TV, My Normal, and The Horror At Gallery Kay.  Her role in Million in The Mirror (PSA for breast cancer research), won The Viewer’s Choice Award on Lifetime. She was one of the featured dancers for the 2015 Grammy Award Winner Cheek to Cheek PBS Special with Lada Gaga and Tony Bennett.  She played principal characters in multiple off-Broadway productions such as the burlesque murder mystery, Lady L’ Amour’s Final Bow and Broadway on the Bowery.

Her latest achievement is her debut as a producer in what has now become a touring burlesque review, Life in Sepia. A revival of burlesque through the decades showing the imprint of black excellence. Life in Sepia is a necessary visual celebration of black ecdysiasts changing the narrative by reclaiming their space on stage and in history.

The spotlight has been shining bright on Maine through many publications; Gothamist, OUT, Buzzfeed, Time Out, The Village Voice, Broadway World, Go Magazine, Playbill, and VPR. Maine was most recently interviewed about her elongated, illustrious career by The New York Times and The New York Post Page Six gossip queen Cindy Adams who referred to her as “the burlesque sensation”.

Maine Anders evokes the type of naughty but cheeky glamour in her burlesque, stage and film performances that garner the well-deserved comparison to the extraordinary greats Josephine Baker and Lucille Ball. She’s a star in musical theater, television and film and will continue to grace any stage where she can let her creativity ride.
